Surviving Site Visits - What to expect

Site visits are conducted for one reason, and that is to help us learn more about you and your project. If you are selected for a site visit, Foundation staff will call and schedule a time to meet with you. We budget 1-hour for site visits and usually find a “walk and talk” type of visit, to be the most effective. We would like to take a tour of your facility and see the project for which you are requesting grant support. Most site visits will include either the Founder (Frances Chaney) or the Executive Director (Carrie Hanson) and, 2-3 Grants Committee Members.

Commonly asked questions during the visits are related to your budget, collaboration or perceived duplication of services, and how is this project making a difference.

I have been invited to Program Review — now what?

Organizations are invited to program review for the same reason site visits are scheduled. We would like to learn a little more about you and your project. Program Review is scheduled twice a year and held at the Foundation office. Appointments are scheduled in 20-minute increments throughout the day and grantees can bring a maximum of two people per organization. The most common format is for applicants to take 10 minute and introduce themselves, share a little about the project, and give an example or two of how this project will support the mission and vision of the Foundation, leaving 5-10 minutes for questions.
